Straight Rye Whiskey 48,2 % vol
Rye whiskey was originally distilled in the United States by German immigrants. This cultural influence is also illustrated by the 300- year history of the Sasse distillery in Westfalia, Germany. With his RYE 094, Rüdiger Sasse interprets this tradition by using regional ingredients. The first pass (low wines) is produced in a column, the second distillation in a copper still. The distillate, made from 75 % rye and 25 % roasted rye malt (roasting temperature 170-220 °C, EBC 800-1200), matures in medium-toasted American oak barrels. The result reveals notes of vanilla, hazelnut, orange, candy and chocolate.
